WHO WE ARE

Kathy J. Chastain, is a seasoned psychotherapist, author, and speaker whose clinical expertise and deep faith converge in a powerful ministry of restoration. A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California, Kathy specializes in trauma-informed care, personality dynamics, combining biblical principles with evidence based theory for individuals, couples, and families. She is also certified in The Daring Way™ methodology based on the research of Brené Brown, Ph.D., and has served as an expert witness for the family law court systems. As the founder of California Christian Counseling and co-founder of the Journey Youth Coalition and Genesis House for runaway and homeless youth, Kathy is known for her visionary leadership and compassionate advocacy. She brings over a decade of experience in walking with people through emotional pain, relational breakdowns, and spiritual wounds—with a heart that sees beyond symptoms to the soul’s deeper longing for connection and healing.

Kathy is also a redeemed backslider whose personal journey back to faith fuels her passion for reaching others who have drifted away. Once distant from God, Kathy experienced firsthand the relentless grace that draws the broken back to wholeness. Now, through The Redeemed Backslider Podcast, she uses her voice and platform to speak directly to those who feel disqualified, ashamed, or forgotten—reminding them that the love of God is still available and unconditional. Her message is raw, redemptive, and deeply rooted in Scripture, offering both clinical insight and spiritual truth. As a natural INFJ and advocate at heart, Kathy is uniquely gifted in understanding what others often overlook and in creating safe spaces for transformation. Whether through counseling, media, or ministry, her life’s work is to call the prodigals home and remind them that it’s never too late to return.
